WRITER. John, who introduces himself as the "Elder" rather than "Apostle," this suggests that the letter was addressed to an individual, "elect lady," rather than a group or church.
The letter contains no information as to where it was written or when. The tone of the letter is also seems to confirm that it is a personal letter.
The lady seems to live near Ephesus
